The Chairman of Egbeda
Landlord Youths, Comrade Franklyn Isaiah, has called on the people of Egbeda in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State to respect the rule of law in their relationship with Jocarls Investment Limited, an agro-based company in the community.
Comrade Isaiah, who stated this while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt at the weekend, explained that he championed the agitation for the company to recognise its host community and explained that the company had done the same.
He said he was gratified that the company had written a memorandum of understanding with the community and the parties had reached worthwhile terms.
Comrade Isaiah noted since the agro-based firm reached an agreement with the community, it had continued to do work unhindered.
He said the community was a peace-loving one and urged all and sundry to support the company in its efforts to bring about development in the community.
He commended the youths for the mature way in which they had followed the matter to a logical conclusion.
Comrade Isaiah also commended Jocarls Investment Limited for the compensation paid to the community and urged both parties to respect the terms of the M.O.U. as way of forging a better relationship.
He said on the basis of their new understanding whoever tried to disrupt the work of the company henceforth should be regarded as a criminal.
According to him, “our agreement with the company is that civilised approach should be adopted in handling any disagreement between both parties. There is no recourse to destruction or vandalisation of company’s property.
He, however, expressed regrets that hoodlums had hijacked of their protests to unleash mayhem at the company’s property.
Comrade Isaiah prayed God to grant the company success so that the community could be better for it.
