DPR, SON Set To Sanction Erring Gas Plants

troleum Resource (DPR) and Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) have resolved to sanction any erring gas plant in the country.
Speaking to newsmen in Lagos, on Monday, the Head, Gas department DPR, Mr Antigha Ekaluo said time is now up for erring Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Plants who have failed to comply with the standard safety guidelines on their activities and operations.
Ekaluo said DPR Inspectors have been directed to ensure compliance, stressing that the agency would soon commence facility audit of licensed plants nationwide to ensure compliance with the statutory provisions on plant operations.
He said many of the marketers sell and store LPG without licenses and in the process, contravene the laws guiding the operators, stressing that DPR, is now putting a stop to these menace to promote safety and healthy environment.
He directed all plant operators to ensure that resale outlets have valid licenses to be able to operate well, adding that the body has also directed its officials to move against illegal operators.
He said the power to approve LPG operators lies with the DPR as a regulatory agency in the Petroleum Sub-Sector.
Ekaluo added that DPR would partner with SON to ensure effective safety standards in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Plants Operation Sector.
He enjoined Nigerians to always report any illegal operators of LPG Plant to the regulatory agency and other security agencies.
