NIQS Affirms Stand On Transparency, Due Process

rian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), Rivers State branch, has said that they are committed to transparency and Due Process in the discharge of their function as cost managers in the building industry.
Making this known when he led a delegation of other executives of the body on a courtesy visit to the General Manager, Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC) on Friday, the Vice Chairman of NIQS, Rivers State Edegoma Ewa said that quantity surveying was one of the core areas in the building sector.
He stated that members of the profession were standing strong on due process and transparency even in the face of irregularities in the built sector.
Ewa explained that Nigerians who knew the value of quantity surveyors are making use of their skills for jobs and projects, and have been having smooth sail.
According to him, “Quantity Surveyors in some other countries are called “Cost Engineers” but irrespective of the name they bear, our work is still the same.”
He said that their major function was to give cost and guide the investors in the building industry, so as to achieve their aim.
“As cost managers in the building industry, our work is necessary, and we do not limit our work and services to housing alone, but we also engage in road construction and building of bridges.”
“We give cost and guide to the investors  in the building industry, so as to achieve their goal, and Nigerians who know the value of Quantity Surveyors are using our skills for their jobs,” Ewa said.
