Akpor Traditional Council Warns Wike


The Akpor Council of
traditional rulers and Chiefs In Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State have warned the Minister of State for Education, Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike and the Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stop attacking and ridiculing the respected traditional stool of Akpor Kingdom.
Speaking to newsmen recently, the Legal Adviser to Akpor Council of Chiefs, Barr. G.O. Agbaraosimini while receiving the Akpor executives of the Rivers State Leadership Advancement Foundation (RIVLeaf)  who paid him a visit on his release from abductor last week, alleged that Chief Wike insulted their people of Akpor Kingdom by saying that Nyenwe Ali Akpo should not have accepted the elevation of the Akpor Stool to First Class by the Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi led.
Barr. Agbaraosimini who is also the spokesman of the Akpor people also accused Chief Wike of using his position then as the Chief of Staff of Government House of surpress the elevation of the Akpor Stool.
He wondered when Wike became an adviser to the Nyenweli Akpor as to dictate when and when not to accept the elevation of the stool.
The Council maintained that the role of traditional rulers is not to be partisan but to give support to the government of the day to succeed and therefore warned Chief Wike to desist from dragging the exalted stool of Akpor Kingdom to poltics.
Barr. Agbaraosimini who was kidnapped recently narrated his ordeals in the hands of his abductors, saying his kidnappers were addressing him as an APC man and asked him to bring the money that was given to him by Governor Amaechi.
He called on all the People of Akpor Kingdom, especially the Youths, not to allow themselves to be used by Chief Wike against the government that has immensely impacted positively on the lives of Akpor people.
He urged them to rally support for Amaechi and the All Progressive Congress (APC) to emerge victorious in the upcoming 2015 general election.
