Agency To Evacuate Aba Refuse

The Abia State Envi
ronmental Protection Agency has promised to improve its refuse evacuation in Aba to make the commercial city clean.
The agency’s Deputy Director in Aba, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, said in Aba last Tuesday that there was delay in response time by his men resulting in some refuse bins not being evacuated on time.
Ikpeazu gave assurance that this anomaly would be addressed soon stating that  the delay was a result of the high volume of refuse that the agency had to handle on daily basis resulting from the influx of people to Aba.
He pointed out that while its resources and funds had not increased over time, the number of people coming to reside in Aba was increasing by the day.
Ikpeazu also noted that the failure of the residents to comply with the time given them to dump their refuse was also contributing to the overflow of refuse at the designated places.
He urged the residents to keep the city clean by complying with the rules on how and when to dispose their refuse.
Over-flowing refuse bins have become a common sight in some areas in Aba, leaving an offensive smell in the areas.
