Former Senatorial Aspirant Heads Enugu APC

gress (APC), over the weekend organised a peaceful and successful congress in Enugu, the capital city of Enugu State, with a former senatorial aspirant of the defunct ACN in Enugu West, Dr. Ben Nwoye and retired Major General Chris Eze emerging as chairman and secretary respectively of the Enugu State chapter of the party.
Notable politicians including former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Chief Okey Ezea, former senatorial aspirant of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN), Major General Jude Okoloagu, former Secertary to the Enugu State Government (SSG), Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Val Nnadozie attended the congress which took place at APC state secretariat in GRA, Enugu.
Also elected were Mr. Adolfus Ude, Deputy Chairman, Barrister Emeacheta Ugwu, Vice Chairman, Enugu North Senatorial Zone, Ike Omekaukwu, Vice Chairman, Enugu West, Chief Anike Nwoga, Vice Chairman, Enugu East Senatorial Zone and 21 others.
Our correspondent who monitored the congress reports that Enugu was agog following the event as security operatives who were all over the place had a tough time as they tried to control the mammoth crowd that attended the congress described in many quarters as the most peaceful and successful in recent times in the state.
Speaking with journalists, Dr. Nwoye expressed his readiness to be the voice of the oppressed in Enugu State.
His words: “I want to thank all of you for electing us unopposed. We have been empowered to be the voice of the down trodden in Enugu State. The change in Enugu State is near. The change is coming soon. The task is not an easy one, but we will do our best to take over from the PDP in Enugu State”.
According to him, the PDP has failed the state and the nation in all ramifications, adding that the successful conduct of the APC congress in the state was a clear demonstration of democracy in action in Enugu State.
Dr. Nwoye, pledged to move APC to the next level with a view to capturing the Lion Building, Government House, Enugu come 2015.
Earlier in a valedictory address presented by the former APC chairman (Interim), in the state, Chief (Mrs.) Joy     Ebeh, recalled with satisfaction the membership registration exercise organized by the party in the state where over 180,000 people registered.
“Today is the culmination of the party’s congress which started from the ward level. Enugu State will go down in history as one of the states that conducted violence-free congresses in the party. This is an indication that APC will take over Enugu State by 2015,” she said.
