Reps Want Pedestrian Bridge On Effurun – PH Road

The House of Represen
tatives has mandated its Committee on Works to liaise with the Federal Ministry of Works to ensure the construction of a pedestrian bridge along Effurun- Port-Harcourt dual carriage way.
The proposed bridge is to be situated on Effurun/ Port-harcourt dual carriage way by the Petroleum Training Institute(PTI) junction in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta.
The House,  said that the pedestrian bridge, when constructed , would help in protecting the lives of pedestrians using the road.
The resolution followed a motion by Rep.Evelyn Oboro(PDP-Delta) which was unanimously adopted without debate when put to vote by the Speaker, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal.
Oboro, while moving the motion said that the busy Effurun-Port Harcourt dual carriage way was a federal road linking major towns in Delta.
He said that the road also links Delta to Bayelsa and Rivers.
The lawmaker said that a lot of vehicles daily ply the road thereby making it difficult for pedestrians to cross while going into Effurun and other neighbour towns.
He said that due to the road’s busy nature, many pedestrians lost their lives in recent times while attempting to cross.
