Revenue Board Explains Introduction Of Biometric Data Capture
The Kaduna State Board of Internal Revenue, has said its introduction of Biometric Data Capture for Tax Payers was to insulate the system of revenue collection from abuse.
Mr Abubakar Abdullahi, the Director, Internal Control of the board, stated this in an interview with The Tide source in Kaduna, yesterday.
According to him, the system will also help to eliminate double taxation and encourage investment.
He said this was also part of the effort by the state government to widen its tax net to generate more revenue in the state.
The director said the system would enable the board carry out tax coding and assessment of tax to be paid by individuals on monthly or annual basis.
According to him, after the registration, the data generated will be used to track and identify those who default in payment.
“It will also help to simplify the process of obtaining tax clearance certificate, and it is free,” he said.
Abdullahi, therefore, urged people to register at the board’s premises, adding that no one would be captured anywhere else.
The official said the TIN card would carry information on holder’s tax status and serve as personal identity card.
Abdullahi appreciated the Gov. Mukhtar Yero for his efforts toward ensuring sustainable tax compliance by introducing changes in tax administration.
He assured that the current transformation of the state revenue system would translate into more revenue to the government.
