Dangote To Invest In Benin Power Project


The President,
Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has indicated interest to power Benin Republic with 200 mega watts electricity.
He announced this last Thursday, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Beninoise President Boni Yayi in Cotonou.
Dangote, said the project will take up to 300 million U.S dollars to fund a coal-fired 200 megawatts power plant in Benin Republic.
The Tide source revealed that a memo randem of understanding (MoU) for the multi-million dollar project has been signed by Dangote and Benin Republic.
The source also informed that the country was bent on Dangote’s business presence in the area, due to his track record in the business world.
It was not immediately learnt how soon the project will start.
Before now, contonu, was believed to have experienced steady power supply which is powered by the federal republic of Nigeria.
According to our source, the power investment will also attract other areas like the telecommications and aviation industry.
