2015 Governorship: Ogonis Carpet Wike, Obuah Over Zoning
The people of Ogoni in Rivers State under the aegis of Gokana Progressive Union (GPU), have carpeted the Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike and the factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Felix Obuah over recent comments to the effect that zoning would be inconsequential on who becomes governor of the state in 2015.
Former House of Representatives aspirant in the area Christian Giami, who leads the group, including politicians across Rivers South-East Senatorial District, said that zoning had been a tradition of PDP, which the duo of Wike and Obuah cannot over rule by fiat.
Giami, who spoke in Port Harcourt, noted that politicians from Rivers South-East Senatorial District roundly condemn in its entirety, the comments credited to the duo.
According to him, “ the party has kept to its zoning arrangements from the national to the ward levels since 1999, and it would be out of place for anybody to move against the rules and norms of the party now.
‘We are calling for caution to avoid confusion in the system”, he said, adding that “ Rivers South-East has paid its dues by lending unflinching support to other zones to produce governors in the state since 1999.
‘it is time for all Rivers people to support us. No power or conspiracy can stop the zone from producing the next state chief executive come 2015,” Giami insisted.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
