Since the inception of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in 2005, it has been held in Bayelsa State except for 2008 and 2012 editions which were held in Abuja and Lagos respectively. The 9th edition of the popular awards ceremony in Africa is scheduled to hold on April 25, 2013 in Bayelsa State.
It was gathered that Governor, Dickson has not only declared interest to allow AMAA return to its base but also the award is garnering government’s sponsorship this year. Meanwhile, on Friday March 15, 2013, the nomination party will be held in Malawi.
AMAA is presented annually to recognise excellence in the African Film industry, rewarding directors, actors and writers. The awards are aimed at honouring and promoting excellence in the African movie industry as well as uniting the African continent through arts and culture.
