RSNC Honours Nine Retirees
Nine retired staff of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC) were, yesterday, honoured by the staff and management of the Corporation for meritorious service.
They include, Mr Vincent Ochonma, former Business Development Manager who served for 35 years, Jemina Amachree, who retired as Chief Correspondent and Canice Amadi who also retired after 35 years as Chief Correspondent.
Others were Mr Godson Ihejirika, Mr Leela Kunamon, Mr Francis Perebo, Mr Edhu Ebere Stephen, Mrs Roseline Albert and Mrs Mabel Ekwe.
They went home with refrigerators, Washing Machines and other gift items.
The General Manager of the Corporation, Mr Celestine Ogolo said the gifts were the management’s humble appreciation for serving the state well.
Speaking at the 2012 Staff/Children End of Year ceremony and send-forth of retirees held at Port Harcourt Club, the General Manager said the corporation was proud of them and enjoined them to remain outstanding in their future endeavours in life.
In his speech, chairman of the occasion, Hon. Legborsi Nwidadah of the Rivers State House of Assembly, noted that “there are two notable days in the life of a public officer. The day he or she was employed and the day of retirement.”
According to the lawmaker these two days go with celebration.
Hon Nwidadah enjoined staff of the Corporation to always put in their best in the service of the state, stressing that their efforts would always be remembered and rewarded.
He remarked that the president administration of the Corporation did so well and that The Tide newspaper had performed beyond the expectations of the founding fathers.
According to him, as the mouth piece of the state, the newspaper has sustained its success story and urged the present management and staff to continue to make the state proud.
Responding on behalf of the retirees, Mr Godson Ihejirika commended the management for the honour done them, saying it was a thing of pride to be a member of The Tide family.
