Court Remands Two For Alleged Robbery


A Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court Presided over by
Emmanuel Chidi Woke, has remanded two accused persons in prison custody for
alleged robbery.

The accused persons, Hope Uche Agua, 17 and Michael
Osayande, 22 are standing trial on two-court charge of attempted robbery and
unlawful possession of arms.

The Prosecuting Police Officer, Inspector Godwin Winam told
the court that the accused persons on the 13th June, 2012 at Graceland  Avenue, Oyigbo within the Port Harcourt
Magisterial District did conspire among
themselves to commit robbery.

The police prosecutor further alleged that the accused on
the same date and place attempted to rob one Achomadu Collins of his valuable
while armed with a locally made Revolver pistol, adding that the accused
persons committed an offence punishable under section 516 (A) and 403(A) of the
criminal code cap 37 vol.11 laws of Rivers State of the Nigeria 1999.

The accused persons were not asked to take any plea on the
charges brought against them because the court did not have jurisdiction.

The presiding Chief Magistrate, Emmanuel Woke ordered that
the accused persons be remanded in prison custody while the original case file
be forwarded to the office of the DPP for legal advice on the matter.

The case was later adjourned to August 24, 2012.
