The Nigeria’s Under 20 women national team Falconets have been handed a tomorrow, deadline for all remaining players of the team to report to camp.
Media Officer of the Falconets, Ejiro Femi-Babafemi, in a statement yesterday said the ultimatum was issued by Chief Coach, Edwin Okon to players that were on club assignments.
“The players know themselves and to that effect, they are expected in camp on Thursday (tomorrow),” the statement quoted the coach as saying.
According to the statement, the coach warned that those, who fail to return on the due day will be punished.
“With just seven weeks to the start of the Championship, l do not expect any player to drag the team backwards,” he was also quoted as saying.
The Falconets resumed training at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on July 1, after a six- week break.
The statement also said that 19 of the 35 players invited, had since reported at the Serob Hotel, Abuja, the camping site.
Nigeria, one of Africa’s representatives to the FIFA U-20 Women World Cup in Japan from August 18 to September 8, has been drawn in the same group with Brazil, Italy and Korea. Falconets will kick start their campaign against Korea on August 19 at Saitama.
