… Criticises Indiscriminate Conferment Of Chieftaincy Titles
A Port Harcourt-based cleric Rev. Baribor Didi, has flayed the indiscriminate conferment of chieftaincy titles and presentation of awards to Nigerians with doubtful means of livelihood.
The cleric spoke last Thursday in Port Harcourt at a send-off church service in honour of three retiring civil servants and members of Rivers State Civil Servants Christian Fellowship.
He that the indiscriminate conferment of titles could encourage people to acquire wealth illegally, adding that it could also instil warped values in the society.
Didi, who is the General Overseer of the Eagle Prophetic Ministry, identified integrity as the major yardstick for conferring chieftaincy on notable men and women.
“In Nigeria some chiefs are thieves. Nigerians do not care about how people made their wealth. Very important personality (VIP) in Nigeria means the man who has money, he said.
