The bearished performance of traded equities that trailed the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) last week, continued on Monday, as market capitalisation of traded shares went down by N12.6 billion, to close at N6.487 trillion, as against N6.499 trillion traded by investors on Friday.
Market Index closed lower at 20,583.61 points, compared to 20,623.63 points traded on Friday, declining by 40.02 points or 0.2 per cent.
However, the volume and value of traded equities appreciated as investors traded a total of 252,193,098 shares, worth N1398 billion in 3,123 deals as against 211,124.979 shares, valued at N1,345 billion, which exchanged hands in 3,875 deals on Friday.
The volume of traded shares went up by 41,068,119 shares or 19.5 per cent to close positively at 252,193,098 shares, compared to 211,124.979 shares, traded on Friday.
Also, equity value gained N45.3 million or 19.5 per cent to close higher at N1.390 billion, compared to N1.345 billion traded by investors on Friday.
Newgold, NB, Flour-mill and Cadbury all gained N32,63 kobo, 55 kobo and 35kobo per share, respectively to lead the gainers table, while Julius Berger, PZ, Dangote Flour and NAHCO all lost N1,285.1 kobo, 21 kobo and 17 kobo, respectively to be the first four on the losers chart.
