The South-East zonal leadership of the Campaign for Democracy, has called on the governors of the South-East states to immediately evacuate the Igbos trapped in the troubled Northern States of Borno, Kano, Yobe and Bauchi.
In a statement in Onitsha, the South-East Chairman of CD, Mr Uzor Uzor, condemned the failure of the governors to respond to the needs of their people in the North, whom he said had become the butt of ethnic and religious killings.
The statement said, “The CD South-East zone condemns unequivocally the lackadaisical disposition of the South-East Governors’ Forum over their inaction towards the plight of the stranded Igbo people in the troubled North, especially in Kano, Borno, Bauchi and Yobe States.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi has urged the 420 Christian pilgrims from the State to pray for Nigeria as it passes through difficult times.
Obi made the appeal in Awka while addressing the first batch of the pilgrims shortly before leaving the state for Israel. The next batch of 120 pilgrims will leave tomorrow.
The governor urged them to be good ambassadors of the State and avoid acts capable of giving the State and country a negative image.
Obi said Anambra people owed it a duty to always pray and project the right perception of the State to the outside world.
