The Managing Partner of Stogba Associates, Mr. Steve Owuogba, has outlined performance management as one of the strategies of expanding the financial base of a business.
Owuogba who was speaking during a business seminar organised by Stogba Associates at the Aldgate Congress Hotel, Port Harcourt over the weekend, said that there is the need to set a target for the staff, which must at the end of every year come with award of excellence, while defaulters should also be penalised.
The manager also said that there must be staff appointed to specifically market the business to the public, adding that there are many opportunities available for entrepreneurs to raise capital for the growth of their businesses.
He outlined the rules of raising business capital and showed participants how and where to raise money from, stating that many businesses are tied down due to ignorance on the part of the owners.
A Professional banker, Mr Chigioke Ukaike, who educated the participants on the opportunities available through the banks stating the need for business men/women to have current accounts, business plans and enough information on the businesses they want the bank to sponsor.
Reacting to the knowledge gotten from the business seminar, Mr Bonnie Udeh, an entrepreneur, applauded Stogba Associates for educating the participants on how to raise business capital, which he said has been the problem of many businesses.
Another participant, Mrs Ima Daniel also commend the organisers, stating that “if this knowledge was made available to me last year, I would have been a millionaire by now,” adding that there is the need for the company to continue to empower entrepreneurs.
She noted that this type of serminar should be repeated every three months, adding that this will have effect on the economy at large, as businesses will benefit.
Mr. Julius Wali described the seminar as the best in recent times, stating that he has seen the shortfalls of his business strategy, adding that he cannot wait to apply the knowledge he got from the all-encompassing business seminar.
