Exchange Closes On Positive Note


Traded equities on the floor (NSE) last week fluctuated, even though the week closed with a slightly marginal increase.

The week  opened on a positive note compared with the depreciation that characterised the previous week’s closure.

However, the performance of stock never improved till Friday when a slight increase was noticed  to close the week on a positive note.

All-share Index close at 25,300.46 basis points, adding 80.76 points to 25, 219.69 points traded on Thursday.

Market capitalisation also went up by N25.81 billion, from N8.06 trillion traded on Thursday, to close higher at N8.084 trillion.

Investors traded a total of 294,696,196 shares, valued at N1.98 billion in 5,000 deals as against 276,461,823 shares, worth N2.31 billion which exchanged hands in 5,112 deals on Thursday.

The volume of traded shares rose 6.6 per cent or 18,234,373 shares to close higher at 294,696,196 shares.

However, share value declined by 14.4 per cent or N331.2 million from N2.31 billion, to close lower at N1.98 billion.

One hundred and twenty two (122) companies traded. Only 35 companies made gains in their transactions, 19 companies lost, while the prices of the shares of 68 companies remained unchanged.

Julius Berger topped the gainers chart after making N5 gain per share while Redstarex  also lost N5 per share to be on the opposite side.
