The April general elections will be successful and peaceful, the new Prelate of the Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and seraphim World-wide, His Emience, Lazarus Onyeleonu, has predicted.
Onyeleonu, the first Easterner and Igbo to head the Cherubim and Seraphim Church founded in 1925 and the 8th Baba Aladura, was on his maiden pastoral visit to Umuahia province since his appointment.
There have been several negative prophecies concerning the April polls and some Nigerians have expressed fears that the sporadic violence in some parts of the country coupled with many court injunctions might derail the April polls.
But the new leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim dismissed this pessimism as unfounded.
“Our prayer is that the elections will come and go without bloodshed. Even if we see vision and it portends bad omen, we will pray against it. Nigerians should have the fear of God and no crisis will affect the 2011 elections. The Church has been praying against any form of violence during the polls,” he said.
He enjoined Nigerians and politicians to work together in harmony and cooperate with the electoral commission to ensure the success of the polls.
Highlights of his visit included a seminar and ordination of some faithfuls as ministers of God.
