Voters Registration: Ogu Monarch Threatens Sanction
The Amanyanabo-elect of Ogu Kingdom in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State, HRM Nicholas Dickson Ibebele Nemenibo Loko, the 9th has told Ogu sons and daughters to come home and ensure they take part in the on-going voter registration exercise, or be sanctioned in the community.
King Nemenibo-Loko who gave the warning during an interview with Journalists in his Palace at Ogu said the consequences of not taking part in the exercise is great. According to him the voter’s card would enable Ogu indigenes to be part of the process of enthroning credible leadership at the local, State and National levels.
More importantly, he said the exercise would be used to measure the growth and population of the community to march government patronage, adding that the central and local committees set-up have been mandated to mobilise the people by providing vehicles to and from Port Harcourt.
He said although the exercise had some hiccups at the beginning but said such problems have been take care of resulting in smooth exercise.
The Royal father enjoined the Ogu people to co-operate with the INEC officials for a successful voters registration exercise. He therefore appealed to all and sundry within the age bracket of 18 years and above, at home and abroad to ensure they come home and register.
