More Companies Lose At Exchange


Transactions on the floor of Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE), Friday, ended on a negative note, as more companies lost in trading of listed equities to end the week’s deals.

Specifically, 37 companies lost on Friday as against 23 companies that recorded lost on Thursday.

The bulls table on Friday, had only 23 companies compared to 43 companies that made gains in their transactions on Thursday.

The gainers chart however was led by Nahco which opened and closed at N9.28 and N9.74 respectively, gaining N.46 per share, while  IHS lost N5 per share to lead the losers chart.

Meanwhile, market closed at 24,807.04 points, as market  capitalization closed at N7.9 trillion.

Investors traded a total of 196,555,912 shares worth N1.5 billion in 5,126 deals.

Unilever drove the market by volume after trading a total of 6,132,548 shares valued at N165.4 million which exchanged hands in 53 deals.

Guaranty Trust Bank, Gold Insurance Law union and Skye Bank also followed on the top 10 by volume chart, after trading a total of 6,371,858,6,597,061,6,672,266 and  6,820,516 shares respectively, worth N102.7 million, N33 million, N3.4 million and N56 million respectively which exchanged hands in 393,14,21 and 134 deals respectively.
