The Nine Oil Mineral Resources Producing States Association of Nigeria (NOMRPSAN) has slammed the Rivers State-based Bonny Integrated Employment Bureau for its alleged selective employment policies in the area.
The state youth leader of the association, Mr Emmanuel Jackmie, who said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt, stressed that the bureau’s employment policy has shut out many youths in the island from employment.
Jackmie further alleged the marginalisation of the National Association of Plant Operators (NAPO) in the employment process in the island.
According to him, NAPO, which is a registered body of professional plant operators, could not be subsumed under the Bonny Employment Bureau, adding that the secret employment of youths in the area by Julius Berger Nigeria Limited was of serious concern to the association.
Also speaking, the Bonny Zonal Chairman of NAPO, Mr Harold Benstowe accused the employment bureau of marginalisation, regretting that the body would soon withdraw its members working at the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas plant on the island in protest against the BIEB.
In a telephone interview, the Administrative Secretary of Julius Berger, Barrister Fenibo ……., denied any secret employment of people in the island.
Efforts to get the reaction of the BIEB Chairman, Hon Vivien Brown, proved abortive as his phone could not go through, after several attempts.
