Globacom Introduces BlackBerry U …Gives 30 Cars, Other Prizes In 30 Days

Globacom, one of the leading telecommunication operators has reaffirmed its leadership in the Blackberry market with the introduction of BlackBerry U, a new package that offers the lowest and uniform tariff structure for prepaid BlackBerry users on the network.

    With the new package, on-net and off-net calls for users of Balckberry U now come at a uniform rate of N25 per minute calls as against the current classic plus on-net rate of N28.8 per minute and off-net rate of N42 per minute.

The Head, Value Added Services, Mr. Samson Isa disclosed that the package was targeted at high net-worth individuals who are already using BalckBerry from GLO and those who wish to enjoy the huge benefits of the package, especially as it gives them considerable savings.

All a subscriber needs to do is text ‘U’ to short code 7070 and the device will be automatically upgraded to BlackBerrry U.

Isa said that existing customers who activate Bis Month (monthly prepaid Balckberry service) and Bis Week (weekly prepared Blackberry service would be migrated to the new lower prepaid tariff from their existing tariff plan.

Also, Globacom had rolled out a new subscriber-reward scheme aimed at doling out prizes worth over N70 million within the next 30 days to its active subscribers.

The reward which is tagged ‘Recharge and Win Promo’ will seek lucky subscribers receiving one car every day till July 30, 2010.

The Group Chief Operating Officer of Globacom, Mr. Mohamed Jamel revealed that 90 other individuals who could participate in the promo would receive 90 motorcycles, three per day for the duration of the scheme.

Other prizes to be won include 300 bicycles, with ten bicycles to be given out each day for 30 days, 90 flat screen television sets with three sets to be given out every day and 3,000 multiband radio sets with 100 to be given out every day for the 30 days of the promo.

Jamel said “All subscribers only need to recharge with a minimum of N500 per week after which their mobile lines will be captured for a draw that will determine the winners. There will be a draw each week so it gives every subscriber the opportunity to have a chance of winning in the promo.
