PPA Okays Nwodo’s Selection As PDP Chairman

Princewill Political Asociates (PPA), a Group in support of the political idealogy and vision of Prince Tonye Princewill the former leader of Action  Congress (AC) in Rivers State has endorsed the emergence of Dr. Okwesileze Nwodo as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The group, in a statement said the step taken by the National Executive Council (NEC) of  PDP to endorse the former national secretary of the party was made in acknowledgement of Nwodo’s democratic antecedents, principles and feats as a seasoned administrator and high ranking politician within the polity.

It thus urged Dr. Nwodo to bring to bear the vision of the founding fathers of the PDP. The statement, signed by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze unbehalf of PPA, also commended the courage of Nwodo who after long time service to the party as national secretary, was unceremoniously haunted out by undemocratic elements within the party, and still chooses to accept to serve the party without any ill feelings.

His sterling record during his stint as Governor of the Old Enugu State was characterised by his grassroots revolution in which most of the villages where linked via quality roads and electricity is yet to be surpassed.

“During his tenure as the National Secretary of PDP, he militated the creation of foreign chapters of the PDP to encourage foreign embassies to talk about the new dawn in Nigeria and to attract Nigerian professionals in Diaspora and lure them back home.

“He initiated the establishment of  National Democratic Institute, which was aimed at expanding and enhancing the training sessions and human resource base for politicians already in office, “the group noted.

According to the group, Nwodo’s emergence would prove to be the panacea needed to reposition PDP in line with the vision of the founding fathers,  especially this tine that the perception of the party is at an abysmal low.

The statement also commended President Goodluck Jonathan and the Board of Trustee (BOT) for approving his candidature while also urging the NEC to support him to bring sanity back to the PDP.

The PPA also urged Nwodo not to relent in all efforts to ensure that the party becomes the vehicle for sustainable change in Nigeria.
