Investors Return To Market After Holiday


Nigerian investors have returned to the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) after a one-day holiday to mark Democracy Day in the country.

Market closed higher at 26,232.57 points from 26,183.21 points traded Friday on the floor of the Exchange.

Also, market capitalisation closed at N6.381 trillion compared to N16.369 trillion traded Friday.

Investors traded a total of 388,219,129 shares worth N2.5 billion in 6,595 deals in contrast 360,973,188 shares valued at N3.4 billion which exchanged hands in 10,502 deals.

The volume of traded equities appreciated by 27,245,947 shares to close at 388,219,129 shares from 360,973,188 shared which was traded Friday.

However, the value of shares  traded declined by N1.1 billion or 32.4 per cent to close at N2.4 billion from N3.4 billion which closed the week on Friday.

Dangote Flour Plc, Nahco and Access Bank all lined up for leadership on gainers chart, opening and closing at N22.12, N23.22; N11.97, N12.56 and N8.13, N8.56 respectively, gaining N1.1, N0.56 and N0.4, respectively.

UACN, on the other hand, led the losers chart after losing N.47 per share.
