NSE: Market Capitalisation Loses N21bn


Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) continued the process of maintaining a downward trend on Friday, as most market indicators declined marginally.

Specifically, market closed at 27,400.21 points losing 86.41 points from 27,486.62 points traded on Thursday.

Market capitalisation went down by N21 billion or 314.2 per cent to close the week at N6.63 trillion from N6.65 trillion traded the previous Thursday on the floor of NSE.

Investors grabbed a total of 598,357,267 shares worth N5.76 billion in 10,475 deals compared to 578,086,862 shares worth N5.91 billion which exchanged hands in 9,869 deals the previous day.

The volume of traded equities appreciated by 20,270,405 shares or 3.5 per cent to close at 598,357,267 shares while the value of shares beared by N148.3 million or 2.5 per cent to close at N5.76 billion from N5.91 billion traded Thursday.

Total led the gainers chart opening and closing at N185.87 and N195 gaining N9.13 per share.

Mobile, Conoil, 7 up and Ashakacem all followed, closing at N174.86, N56.14, N47 and N21.4 and gaining N8.32, N2.67, N1.83 and 99 kobo respectively.

Wapco led the losers chart, opening and closing at N44.5 and N42.28, losing N2.22 per share.
