Alhaji Gidado Hamman, The President, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), has said that 72 drivers will be trained for other businesses.
Hamman said that the training that would start on Tuesday, would allow the members of the union to exploit other means of livelihood to make ends meet in their life.
In an interview with newsmen in Abuja recently, Hamman said that the training would also empower them during their post driving years.
‘’We want them to get further knowledge on other businesses so that in future they will not retire as drivers but as professionals in other fields that will assist them further.
“We are going to train 72 drivers from the 36 states of the federation; that is two from each state,’’ he said.
The NURTW president added that the training would become mandatory and members from each zone would be selected every quarter for it.
“We are further going to have this same training at the state levels and this is going to be for just elected officials of all state branches,’’ he said.
