Principal Decries Lack Of Desks For Students

The Principal of Community Secondary School Nkpolu, Mr. Amadi Charles has decried the lack of desks for students in the school to enable them have a conducive learning environment.

Mr. Charles, who stated this during the 9th Annual Inter-house Athletics competition held at the school premises, said the provision of desks became necessary because of the situation in which some students sit on the floor, some stand while very few students are seated during lectures.

In addition to the provision of desks, the principal also stated that there is absolute need to post security guards to the school in order to secure the school premises.

In a bid to secure the premises at night, he said, two security men were engaged by him to watch over the school. “But our problem is that we want more security guards in the school,” he said.

The Tide On Sunday investigation reveals that in senior secondary school 2b, of the 84 students only about 10 students have desk to sit on, while some are standing and the others are sitting on windows to learn.

It was also gathered that few of the students that were seated provided the desks for themselves.

A student in SSS 2b lamented that apart from the desk to sit on, the school also lacks toilets and laboratories.

According to him, we do not even carry out both economic and science practical work because there are no laboratories in the school. Our major concern is that the same West Africa School Certificate Examinations we are writing is what other schools that have good laboratories are also writing.

Mr. Charles thanked the patrons, Hon. Azubuike Nmerukini, Hon. Owhonda Kingsley and Barrister Temple Amadi for their various supports.
