Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology (RIVCOHSTECH), honoured retiring staff of the institution for their dedication to duty and selfless service to the development of manpower needs of the state.
Speaking at the occasion, the Provost of the College, Dr. Nnanna Victor Onyekwere extolled the exemplary life of the retiring staff which has brought honour and academic excellence in the College.
The Provost reminded the staff that although they were retiring but not tired urging them to always be good ambassador of the institution in their future endeavours.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the occasion, Dr. Onyekwere challenged youths to take advantage of their youthful days to secure a better future and leave a worthy legacy.
He regretted that the passing generation has failed the youths in bequeathing useful legacies for them to emulate.
“The present generation could not sustain the legacies left to them by previous generations thus making life difficult for the youths but the youths could still look beyond the constrains they face and act now to guarantee their future”, he stressed.
The highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of awards to doctorate degree holders among the retiring staff who include Charles Amadi, Chime Onumbu and Goodluck Azuruonwu by the Registrar, Mrs. Owanate Lawson.
Souvenirs were presented to others by the wife of the Provost, Lady Lawretta Onyekwere.
Some of the students who spoke to The Weekend Tide said that they would greatly miss the sound academic knowledge of the retiring staff of the institution.
