Rivers Lawmakers Condole Family Of Late Colleague
The Rivers State House of Assembly Monday paid a condolence visit to the family of their late former colleague, late Hon Charles Achor Nsiegbe who was murdered by unknown gunmen last week along Tombia extension near Clock Tower Hotel, GRA, Port Harcourt.
The condolence visit was sequel to a motion raised on the floor of the House by Hon Victor Ihunwo representing Port Harcourt constituency III in the State House of Assembly.
Hon Ihunwo had on Monday during the House plenary session intimated the lawmakers on the death of their former colleague and urged the House to commiserate with the family as a way of paying last respect to the former lawmaker.
The Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Tonye Harry before leading other lawmakers to the deceased residence described late Hon Ngiegbe as a strong member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as well as a member of the Board of the state Procurement Bureau.
The lawmakers later observed a minute silence as a mark of honour to their departed colleague.
At the residence of the deceased, the Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Tonye Harry while condoling the wife and members of the family urged them to take solace in the Almighty God, adding that the Bible said we should give thanks to God in all situations.”
Rt. Hon. Harry assured the family of the support of the state House of Assembly at all times.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the leader of the House, Hon Chidi Lloyd thanked the lawmakers for identifying with the family at this period of their grief and urged the house to call on the security operatives in the state to unravel the killers of the late former lawmaker. He described the death of the late lawmaker as the murder of the year, adding that late Nsiegbe left his house on that fateful day but did not return.
The lawmaker urged his colleagues not to abandon the family even after the burial of the late colleague, adding that he is commenced that the Almighty God would intervene with divine justice.
The climax of the visit was the signing of a condolence register by the speaker, Rt. Hon Tonye Harry whole the delegation.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
