World Bank appoints consultants For Bayelsa State

The World Bank has appointed Revenue Watch Institute as consultants to the Bayelsa State Expenditure, Income and Transparency Initiatives (BEITI).

Mr. Paul Francis, a senior social development specialist of the bank, disclosed this during a breakfast meeting with Chief Timipre Sylva, at Government House, Yenagoa.

Mr. Francis, who said that the idea was to strengthen its partnership programmes with the Bayelsa State Government stated that the consultants will provide technical support for BEITI with a view to ensuring an appropriate expenditure tracking frame work.The World Bank specialist added that the bank has also been given the mandate to promote job creation and youth empowerment in the state, including advancement of development in local government areas.

In his speech, the Deputy director of Revenue Watch, Mr. Antoine Heuty expressed the institute’s readiness to work with BEITI in order to ensure a profitable transparency initiative.
