2011: PDP Chieftain Cautions Against Adoption

Ahead of 2011 elections, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, warned state chairmen of the party to stop the act of adopting incumbent state governors and legislators as the party candidates.
He equally warned the party chairmen in the state to desist from the action of adopting governors and legislators as candidates, saying erring chairmen would be made to face disciplinary action.
Our correspondent report gathered that Ogbulafor had to intervene to call the state chairmen to order in view of the rampant manner in which state chairmen were adopting governors and legislators to the annoyance of other aspirants who felt shortchanged.
The Tide also learnt that a letter signed by the National Chairman of PDP to the state chairmen of the party read in part: “My attention had been drawn to your indiscriminate adoption of state governors and legislators as flag bearers of the party on the pages of newspapers for 2011 elections. “In case you have forgotten, let me once again refresh your minds on a speech at the first concluded special national convention of 20th April, 2009.”
