Flying Officers Cup: Rivers Angels Pull Out, Focus On Egypt Task
The General Manager of Rivers Angels FC, Matilda Onyiloha-Otuene has said the team pulled out of the Flying Officers Cup tournament to focus more on their preparations for the CAF Women’s Champions League coming up next month in Egypt.
Onyiloha-Otuene disclosed this to Tidesports during an interview on Friday.
According her, the team had to pull out in order to concentrate on their CAF Women’s Champions League preparations and reduce the risk of having more injured players.
Mrs Onyiloha-Otuene apologised to the organisers of the Flying Officers Cup for any inconvenience this decision may have caused.
“Our reason for pulling out is to fully concentrate on CAF preparations right now and avoid anything that would disintegrate the team at this stage”, Onyiloha-Otuene said.
“It was our desire to participate in this year’s Flying Officers Cup but due to the timing and our Continental event around the corner, we felt the need to opt out of it.
“We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused the organisers of the event but this was beyond our control,” she added.
The reigning Nigeria Women Football League Premiership Champions will be at the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League scheduled to begin from November 5-19 this year.
