NNPCL Boss Pledges Support for NLNG’s Growth, Sustainability
The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engr. Bayo Ojulari, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the growth and long-term sustainability agenda of the Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG).
This was disclosed during a visit to the NLNG plant on Bonny Island, where Engr. Ojulari was briefed on the company’s operations and business outlook by NLNG’s Managing Director and CEO, Philip Mshelbila.
According to a statement by the company, Mshelbila described NNPCL as a dependable shareholder company committed to the development of NLNG, securing the gas value chain, and overcoming recent challenges.
He emphasized the importance of synergy in delivering national energy goals and the need for deliberate investment in the gas sector to stabilize gas supply, de-risk critical infrastructure, and unlock upstream investments.
Engr. Ojulari, in his remarks, described NLNG as “a beacon of governance, performance, transparency, and sustainability” in Nigeria’s dynamic energy sector.
He highlighted plans for a dynamic Gas Master Plan and exploring opportunities for hydrogen collaborations with NLNG in preparation for a net-zero future.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Emeka Vitalis, who accompanied Engr. Ojulari, emphasized NLNG’s strategic importance as a lever for energy transition and a pillar of economic stability.
He underscored the critical role of Train 7 in achieving Nigeria’s export targets and enhancing national resilience.
During the visit, Engr. Ojulari toured several key operational areas, including the main plant complex and the construction site for Train 7, a flagship expansion project set to increase NLNG’s production capacity significantly.
