The Chairmanship Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Dr. Bariere Thomas has that said if elected he would re-form the defunct Khana Football Club.
He expressed  sadness seeing young men with football skills and  talents who were playing for the team before, now roaming the streets
Thomas said this in an interview with sports journalists after casting his vote at last Saturday local government elections in his unit four, Ward 18 in Baen community.
He further stated that if elected he will ensure that the  club is sustained after his tenure through formulation of policy, saying  that about 50 youths were off from the streets when the club was in existence.
” My heartbeats , that I am alive and seeing raw talents who were engaged in Khana FC now returned to the streets on unemployed.
” What that means, I will set up a structure that will sustain  Khana FC economically, so that even if I am not in office again it will be functioning.
” 50 youths were taken off the streets during the existence of Khana FC and among those youths only three were from my community meaning 47 of them were from different communities, those youths now are economically down.
” What does that tells us was that family who were once flourishing are now back to the bottom line of poverty. We will not encourage that racism we have to ensure that we set up structures that can stand the taste of times after my tenure”, Thomas stated.
