Cleric Condemns Increasing Theft in God’s House

The Bishop Diocese of Evo, church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Rt Rev Innocent Ordu, has called for vigilance among Christian community over the increasing level of theft in churches.

Ordu said this in his presidential address at the 1st session of the 6th synod of the Diocese which held at the St Andrew’s Anglican church Rumuobiakani .

The theme of the synod was “Biblical One Another; The imperative of Life Together Within The church community”

The cleric who described the act as sacrilegious also called on those who are involved in the criminal act to desist in their own interests and that of their generations.

“These events are not just criminal, they are down right sacrilegious

“A theft against God’s House and his people.It is truly alarming to think that such acts could only have been committed by individuals who know the area well or have studied it closely ”

The Cleric urged those involved to repent before the wrath of God falls on them

“Please to those who are involved in these criminal acts, please repent, stop what you are doing and turn away for the kingdom of God is near ”

Meanwhile Rt Rev Innocent Ordu has called for brotherly love among the Christian community.

Speaking on the theme of the synod which was “Biblical One Another The imperative of Life Together Within The church community”he said the theme seeks to emphasis and draw our attention to those things we must do to one another

“Our fellow brothers and sisters with whom we particularly share in the day to day fellowship of the church, whether at local church Station level, Diocesan, National or at our different ecumenical fellowship level ”

The cleric who used several biblical texts to buttress his message urged Christians to love one another, as love is a characteristic of the life of Jesus Christ.

Also speaking on the political situation in Rivers state,Ordu called for a return to Democratic rule in Rivers state while the 1999 constitution be amended to ensure that decampees automatically loose their seats.

He also called for the accomodations of the traditional institution in constitutional amendment while condemning the hast for campaign ahead of the 2027 election when there is hunger in the country.

Speaking later on Chief Barrister Emmanuel Izuehie described the synod as a great success

Izuehie who was chairman synod planning committee said the synod was one of the best in the Diocese.
