Simplified Cup: No Shift Of Kick Off Date …As RSFA Chairman Urges LGAs To Register

The Acting Chairman of Rivers State Football Association ( RSFA), Ibigoni Benjamin-Akobo,has emphasised that there will be no shift of kick off date of the forthcoming Simplified Football Cup.
He reiterated that the commencement of the competition still remains August 12, 2024 and urged Local Government Chairmen who have not registered to do so.
Benjamin-Akobo said this in a telephone interview with Tidesports on Wednesday, saying that there will be no avenue for late registration and shift of kick off date.
He revealed that 19 LGAs have shown interest out of 23 LGAs in the State, adding that that is not good for the maiden editon of ” SIMPLIFIED” cup competition.
“As I speak only 19 LGAs have shown interest to participate in the competition. We have no intention to shift the commencement date which is 12th August this year.
” We urge all the Caretaker Committee Chairmen to register in the Simplified Cup because this will help to develop grassroots football in the State”, Benjamin-Akobo said.
The acting chairman of RSFA has earlier in a press briefing last week said the competition will commence on the 12th August and end on 13th September 2024, putting into consideration that LGA election that will hold in October.
He further said that the winner of the tournament will pocket N7million, while second and third positions will go home with N5million and N3million respectively.
According to him, there will be individual prizes like Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best goalkeeper and best behaved team in the tournament.
“Apart from first, second and third position prizes, there are also individual prizes to be won like Best Behaved Team, Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Best Goalkeeper in the tournament” he stated.
