Fubara, Odili Bag Niger Delta Diocese Special Awards

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and former Governor Peter Odili have bagged Special Awards of the Diocese of Niger Delta Anglican Communion.
The awards were part of the 70th anniversary of the Diocese.
Fubara was conferred with Platinum Procreator Award, while Odili bagged the Special Award of Platinum Defensor of the Niger Delta Diocese.
A total of 101 persons were given various awards by the Diocese.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award on behalf of the governor, State Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu, thanked the Diocese for the honour, saying the governor is humbled by the recognition as a worthy son of the Diocese.
He said the State Government would continue to partner with the church and urged for prayers for the peace of the State.

In his sermon, the Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Henry Chukwuma Ndukuba, urged Christians to cultivate the altitude of prayers and thanksgiving.
Ndukuba, who was represented by the Archbishop Province of Kaduna and Bishop of Kaduna Diocese, Most Rev. Timothy Yahaya, noted that most Christians lack because they took God for granted.
He said thanksgiving open ways for people, adding that when you give thanks, God does more for you.
According to the cleric, instead of complaining, Christians should continuously give thanks to God.
Earlier in an address, the Bishop, Diocese of Niger Delta, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Oko Jaja, said the Diocese remains the oldest Diocese in Nigeria Anglican Communion.
The Diocese is known to be the mother of all Dioceses within Niger Delta Province and Aba Province which cuts across Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Abia and Bayelsa states.
Bishop Jaja commended the missionary effort of the late Bishop Ajayi Crowther who, according to him, traversed the nooks and crannies of the Niger Delta and beyond.
He said the history of the Diocese would also not be complete without mentioning the labour and commitment of King William Dappa People of Ancient Bonny kingdom.
He said the awards was in recognition of the awardees’ contributions to the growth and development of the Diocese.
