Foundation Leads School Strike For Climate Action In Rivers Community

In a significant stride toward environmental awareness and climate education, TalkLove Africa Foundation, a dedicated non-governmental organisation (NGO) focusing on the empowerment of women and children, yesterday took a bold step by joining together in the largest ever coordinated Global Wave of Climate Action with a school strike for climate action held at Rumunduru Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area , of Rivers State.
This impactful school strike, centred around empowering young minds with the knowledge and tools to become effective agents of change in the realm of climate action, underscores the crucial need for comprehensive climate education within schools.
Conducted under their SDGs in schools project, this transformative initiative unfolded at Happy Day International School in Rumunduru Community, located in the heart of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The school strike featured insightful lectures on climate change delivered by representatives from TalkLove Africa Foundation. Following the educational sessions, a symbolic tree planting ceremony was led by the organisation’s esteemed Executive Director, Mrs. Cynthia Obinwanne who used the opportunity to address the students, emphasising on their pivotal roles as change agents for climate action within their communities.
She highlighted the significance of tree planting as a tangible contribution to fostering a culture of climate consciousness.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the school, the Vice Principal, Chief Fine Face commended the foundation for undertaking the visionary role of instilling in children the importance of climate action.
He acknowledged the organisation’s commitment to shaping a generation that recognises the value of environmental stewardship and the impact of individual actions on global climate issues.
