Banigo Sets Benchmark On Polio Eradication
As the International Community observed this year’s World Polio Free Day, the Senate Committee Chairman on Health, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, says Nigeria must work towards attaining at least 80 percent of the Universal Child immunization Group Target .
Senator Banigo, in a statement by her Press Secretary, Precious Abia, gave the charge in a special broadcast to commemorate the global event marked yesterday.
The Harvard-trained Medical Personnel called on community leaders, parents and all stakeholders to work in synergy to ensure that every child is vaccinated and protected, especially in areas she described as the “Vulnerable Group in Nigeria” .
She advised people to be proactive, vigilant and avail themselves of the medical services provided at the various medical centres in their locality.
The former Rivers State Deputy Governor expressed optimism that Nigeria has the necessary tools and human resources to tackle Polio to zero level.
The Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District also commended the dedication and commitment of health workers, minders , volunteers, parents, civil society organisations, donor partners and teachers for their roles in the eradication of Polio in the society.
