Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Rivers State and South-South zone, Amb Chijoike Ihunwo, has charged various youth leaders in the villages and local government areas to protect the project in their areas.
The road cuts across six local government areas in the state.
Ihunwo stated this in his office in Port Harcourt when addressing newsmen on the need for Rivers youths to support the government of Sir Siminalayi Fubura who, according to him, has a lot to offer to Rivers people.
He charged Rivers youth leaders in the local government areas to ensure they provide security for the works and ensure they protect government projects in their localities.
Ihunwo said the ring road project will provide opportunity and open local areas, towns, villages and communities for more roads and development in the areas.
He commended the state government for his foresight in opening up communities and local governments for development.
Ihunwo urged the House of Assembly to make laws to compel companies operating in the local governments or communities to employ the youth in their operational basis to reduce unemployment of the youth.
According to him, the government cannot employ everybody, hence, he advised corporate bodies, individuals, and companies to assist in employing the youth.
The NYCN further advised the government to look into Agriculture, which has the capacity to provide massive food, and also employ the youth.
