LG Boss Tasks FG On N’Delta Ministry’s Resuscitation

Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Council of Rivers State, Dr Enyiada Cookey Gam, has called on the Federal Government under the watch of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently resuscitate the Niger Delta Ministry and all its subsidiaries for greater efficiency and productivity.
Speaking with journalists recently in Port Harcourt on the state of the nation, Cookey Gam appealed to the government to come to the rescue of the people of the region by providing up-to-date infrastructural facilities, such as, roads, better and affordable housing, constant power generation, hospitals, refined school, and agricultural amenities to ease hunger, poverty and unemployment in the area.
He also stressed that the state of these bad roads had caused several avidable accidents and deaths in the region, which does not speak well of the government.
Cookey Gam also drew the attention of government to poor service delivery in the hospitals, which, he said, causes many loss of lives due to inadequate facilities in the hospitals.
He urged the President and his team, including all other leaders, to show protective and proactive measures in building up what he called the grey areas, and also provide security for the people, and empowerment to enable the youths in the region be educated and self-reliant, “thereby eradicating illiteracy, which causes lots of turmoil in the region”.
Cookey Gam noted that “the Niger Delta people deserve better and human–faced reformation in this present dispensation, despite past neglects by previous administrations”.
He also implored Mr President and other leaders, including governmental agencies, to give listening ears to the yearnings and aspirations of the people in the provision of necessary amenities via the proper resuscitation of the non-performing ministry.
He urged government to gear effort at creating job opportunities to jobless Nigerians of the region, especially the current administration, both at the Federal, State and Local levels to sustain the tempo for posterity.
Meanwhile, also used the opportunity to congratulate President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu; his Vice, Senator Kashim Shettima; Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara; his Deputy, Prof Ngozi Odu; Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly, Senator Barinada Mpigi; member representing Andoni/Opobo/ Nkoro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr Awaji Inombek Abiante; and member representing Opobo/Nkoro State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Adolphus Orubienimigha, and others as they formally resume office, describing their emergence as the will of God through the people.
Cookey Gam urged them to do their best in order to build better bridges of development for the people in the next four years.
