Mr Ahmed Usman, the Chairman of Doma Local Government Council in Nasarawa State, has advised parents to enroll their wards in schools to acquire both western and religious education.
This, he said, was due to the importance of education to human and societal development.
Usman made the call when he hosted members of Child Rights Committee, an NGO, in Doma on Friday.
He pledged to partner with any organisation aimed at impacting positively on the lives of common people in the locality.
The council boss appreciated the group for the visit and assured of his support to enable them succeed.
Usman noted that the formation of an NGO for the purpose of rendering humanitarian support to the vulnerable within the community is a good omen.
According to him, the council is ready to partner the NGO considering its laid down programmes aimed at bringing succour to the victims of unforseen circumstances in the locality.
Besides, the chairman enjoined the residents of the area to desist from negative tendencies capable of causing disaffection not only on the lives of common people but to the progress of Doma and the state at large.
Earlier, the Coordinator of the organisation, Doma Local Government Area, Mrs Patience Essela, said that the visit was aimed at intimating the council on their activities.
“As well as to seek for your support to enable us carrying out our activities effectively,” he said.
The coordinator said that the organisation has being carrying out activities, including response to HIV and AIDS patients, dropped out of school children, rape cases, hospital bills, registration for JAMB and WAEC, among other interventions.
