Rivers Court Convicts Two For Cultism
A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has convicted and sentenced Oseleya Jack and Senior Rudimo to seven years’ imprisonment for their membership to secret cult in Abonnema Town in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state.
Oseleya Jack and Senior Rudimo are reported to be members of Greenlanders secret cult whose members were killed by rival cult gang on December 31, 2017 in Abonnema Town.
The two convicts were arrested following their activities leading to reprisal attacks carried out by their members on January 1, 2018, which resulted to sporadic shooting in the area.
They have spent over four years in the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre.
Trial Judge, Justice Boma Diepiri, in his judgement, ruled that the prosecution team was able to prove their case that Oseleya Jack and Senior Rudimo actually belonged to Greenlanders secret cult following their confessional statements, and evidence tendered in court.
Justice Diepiri said the defense team failed in their argument that the Greenlanders was not among the list of recognised secret cults, and thereby convicted and sentenced the two to seven years’ imprisonment, which is to run concurrently.
