The Rivers State Government has said that it has released more money to Raffoul Nigeria Limited for the commencement of work on the Andoni section of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Unity Road.
The government also assured that the project would be completed before the expiration of the tenure of the present administration.
The state Commissioner for Works, Dr Dax George-Kelly, said this in an interview with newsmen at the weekend in Port Harcourt.
“The governor had recently held a meeting with the contractor, Raffoul Nigeria Limited, and he has given his commitment that he is going back to site to drive completion of the project.
“In fact, just few weeks ago, he has been paid again”, he said.
George-Kelly said having done over 70percent of the work,”we expect him to complete this project in no more than six months”.
The commissioner said the various flyovers constructed by the administration have reduced traffic to the barest minimum in Port Harcourt City and environs.
“The impact of the commissioning is so huge. You can see we are lucky to have a governor that spends our money very prudently to put projects that we can see, for the use of Rivers people.
“You can imagine we are on 12 flyovers. All of these flyovers were flagged off and inaugurated in this second tenure.
“It means that he has inaugurated an average of three flyovers in a year”, George-Kelly said.
He said that apart from road construction, the government was also doing a lot in health and education sectors, stressing that more projects would be commissioned in weeks and months ahead.
“We have been commissioning projects since the beginning of the month. We are still commissioning projects. By next month, more commissioning will follow”, he said.
He urged the people to continue to support the government to enable the governor do more for the state.
