Competition Sponsorship, Way Of Encouraging Talents – Coach

The Head coach of Olunimi Tiger Basketball Club of Port Harcourt, Ogoh Odaudu has said that sponsorship of tournaments at the grassroots level is a way of encouraging the young ones in the game.
According to him, if there are no competitions at the grassroots, the young ones would not be attracted to the game, staging competitions are also a way of developing the game in the grassroots.
Odaudu said this last Saturday in an exclusive interview with Tidesports at the Giving Back To the Society basketball competition at the basketball court in Port Harcourt.
The basketball competition which is tagged “Giving Back To The Society” is sponsored by Precious Achiuwa who plays for the Toronto Raptors of America.
Coach Odaudu explained that it is a great thing for somebody to not forget where he/ she started life from,adding that what Achiuwa has done at the grassroots is a way of encouraging others into the game.
“ It is a thing of great joy for somebody who started basketball here coming  back to encourage others.
“You can see the excitement among the youths.
”For me, I am overwhelmed because it gives room for others to go into the game.
“I think others should emulate what Precious Achiuwa is doing because it is the only way the young talents can be developed at the grassroots” Odaudu said.
He further explained that the tournament will help to discovered future talents.
Coach Odaudu commended Achiuwa for not forgetting where he started the game of basketball in his early age.
He used the medium to call on others to emulate what Achiuwa has done.
