RSG To Commission More Projects In August

Rivers State Government is to commission more projects executed by the present administration in the state by early August.
The Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, gave the hint at the Executive Council  Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt, on Saturday during the swearing in  ceremony of five newly appointed Commissioners into the Rivers State Executive Council.
The Rivers State Governor, who reassured of his commitment to serve Rivers people and protect the interest of the state, disclosed that the planned inauguration of the newly completed projects would last for two weeks.
Governor Wike stated that his administration was in its final stage and urged  commissioners, heads of ministries, departments and agencies in the state to begin compilation of relevant information and records covering the period of the stewardship of his administration for proper handover to his successor.
The Rivers State Governor said that the need for early preparations ahead of the May, 2023, terminal date of his administration was to forestall any excuse of lack of time on the part of relevant agencies, ministries, departments and parastatals on adequate documentations for proper handover.
He recalled that at the inception of his administration in 2015,  he was denied a handover note by his predecessor.
The newly sworn in  commissioners are  Hon. Deinma Iyalla, assigned to the Ministry of Special Projects; Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmom to the Ministry of Education; Hon. Boma Iyaye to the Ministry Local Government Affairs; Hon. Christopher Green was given the Sports portfolio and  Burabe Anea-Bari Donald was posted to the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Community Affairs.
Governor Wike, who congratulated the new Commissioners on their appointments, urged them to serve the State with a deep sense of commitment, passion,  competence and make indelible imprint in their various ministries.
The governor, who acknowledged that some of them had served the State in different capacities as former commissioners and  special advisers, charged them to utilize the present opportunity to further contribute to the development of the State.
Meanwhile, Governor Wike, also within the week under review, felicitated with the Muslim faithful on the celebration of Eid el Kabir.
In a statement issued by the Special assistant on Media to the Governor, Kevin Ebri, the Rivers State Governor sued for peace in the country to enhance stability and growth while urging Muslims to emulate the lifestyle of Prophet Mohammed who symbolized peace and tolerance.
Governor Wike assured Muslims and other people living in Rivers State of adequate protection of lives and property and freedom of worship as guaranteed in the Nigerian Constitution.
He urged Muslims to see the Eid el Kabir celebration as a period of sober reflection and seek devine intervention to tackle the protracted challenge of insecurity in the country.
