How We Won Gold In PH Karate Championship – Coach
Bayelsa Karate Head Coach, Lawrence Udoka, has come out to reveal how she tutored her athlete, Gibson Finebone to win the gold medal in the 50kg female category at the recently concluded 1st Strata Base Karate championship held in Port Harcourt.
Lawrence disclosed that her athlete Finebone lost to the gold medal to the karateka from Delta State, Nwankwo Chizoba at the last National Sports For (NSF) in Edo State and had to study the fighter (her opponent) very well and asked the athlete to go for the jugular when they met in the Kumite event of the championship in Port Harcourt.
According to her,” my athlete fought according to my instruction and we eventually won the fight which was keenly contested”.
She however said their participation in the recently concluded tournament in Port Harcourt will boost their preparation for future competitions, particularly the forthcoming NSF, scheduled to hold in Delta State, this year.
Speaking further, on the programmes of the Karate Federation of Nigeria, the Bayelsa karate head coach heaped praises on the karate board led by its President, Silas Agara, for organising programmes and championships.
The coach said with the programmes and tournaments lined up by the Karate Federation of Nigeria, the combat sport will attain greater heights in the country and the nation’s athletes will go places and become a force to reckon with in the nearest future.
