Take COVID-19 Vaccine Jabs, NYSC DG Tells Corps Members
The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC), Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim has urged corps members posted to Rivers State to adhere to the Federal Government directives and ensure they take their COVID-19 vaccination without further delay.
He directed that they must show proof of their vaccination before entering the office from December 1, 2022.
Ibrahim, who was represented by the NYSC State Coordinator, George Mfongang, disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the 2021 Batch C Stream 2 at the Orientation Camp in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State, recently.
He warned that the policy may apply to corps members who were also viewed as public servants.
The DG stated that the posting of corps members away from their state of origin was to broaden their understanding of the country.
He noted that the NYSC management’s policy of posting them outside their states of origin was to equally enable them to stand in a good stead to contribute effectively to the promotion of national unity and integration.
Ibrahim encouraged the corps members to engage in healthy interactions, exchange ideas on topical national issues and build lasting friendships with a view to advancing the progress of a united Nigeria.
He cautioned them against indulgence in cultism, drug abuse and other social vices while tasking them to get vaccinated against COVID-19 disease.
Earlier, the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi, represented by Justice Tamunoigoni Susan Oji, administered the Oath of Allegiance on the corps members.
A total of 2,350 corps members were sworn in during the ceremony.
